Hello!
The day has finally arrived when I can say that my new song, “Bland, dull, repetitive, and boring,” is available now. I first wrote this song back in November of 2024 and have been working on it since. I am so proud of this song, the album it belongs to, and the music video we made, too.
I had never done a music video prior to this song. The concept of shooting an artistic expression of my own work with a camera and lip-syncing to it seemed daunting to me. With the help of my good friend and collaborator, Lila Felshiem (https://www.instagram.com/lilafelsheim/), however, we made it happen. We set out on the expedition of crafting a video that we felt captured the essence of “Bland, dull, repetitive, and boring,” and I feel we accomplished that.
Back in January, my friend Cindy (https://www.instagram.com/wonderfullymade.child/) came to New York where I'm based for her 21st birthday trip. We went to The Met as she had never been before and took photos that day and, little did we know, the single cover that you all see on streaming platforms and my website was born. When I saw that particular photo, I knew I would use it for this song in particular. It just looked like how the song sounded to me, and though aesthetically, it is quite different from the scenes in the music video, I think two things can capture a given piece of music at once, even if they do not look the same.
Though I worked on the actual song itself on my own, I do owe much of its creation to my two friends mentioned above. I couldn't have made this piece of music as fleshed out and as thought-through as it ended up being without their help. I am eternally grateful to Cindy and Lila for lending their talents and creative lenses to this project, and there is so much more to come that I am even more excited about.
“Bland, dull, repetitive, and boring” is available now. It serves as the lead single from my new album which I am hoping to release later this year (or, if all else fails, early 2026). You may think this is quite early to release the lead single, but do not worry; I have a few more tricks up my sleeve to hold you all over until the album finally comes out… so be on the lookout for that.
When I look to the sky, I see an angel.
See you soon,
Ben
