My new album is out now!

Hello!

Writing to you to tell you that my new album, When I look to the sky, I see an angel, is available now wherever you get your music! Finally! Ah!  (I'm freaking out a little).

This project has consumed my life since I really began working on it last November. It's been a wild year in terms of my music, and I'm so excited that you all can hear this snapshot of my life at long last. Whenever I first start working on albums, it is always unfathomable to me that there is possibly an entire body of work that I'm about to embark on making, but now I can see the whole album, and I am so proud of it and myself. It was hard work, but it paid off.

I made this album entirely on my own. I wrote it all, produced it all, and mixed and mastered it all myself, too. Gaby Lesmana wrote her verse on “Don't you remember you want me?” but other than that, it was just me. It was challenging at times. I'd have creative moments or bursts and make three songs over the span of three days, then I wouldn't touch any music for what felt like an eternity. For instance, I made “Nostalgia will be the death of me,” “That's not love,” “When I look to the sky, I see an angel” (the song), and another unreleased song called “Fill the tunnel with a golden light” over a few sessions in one week, then I wouldn't make any music for this album for awhile. The last song I recorded for this album actually was “Figure me out,” and that was when I knew I was done with it. It felt like the perfect way to end this chapter and move on to the next in musical terms.

We shot this album cover and its accompanying photos on a windy evening in May in Brooklyn. My best friend and frequent collaborator, Lila, took the photos on film. I remember when we got them back from development and being so excited to one day use them, and here we are! At the time, I only had four songs for this album. This album took various shapes and forms throughout its construction, too. Originally, the idea was to make it 18 tracks, five of which were sections of a story I wrote, but then I scrapped that idea once the album began to sound more “pop-like” and dwindled it down to 10 tracks from the original 18.

I wrote “Bland, dull, repetitive, and boring” on November 14, 2024. My album is out now exactly one year later. I didn't plan that, which is crazy. You can listen to my album, When I look to the sky, I see an angel, wherever you get your music, or here. I'm so happy this is out and you can hear and appreciate the hard work I've been doing. I'll see you for the next one.

All my love,

Ben
